VP Nonprofit, Senior Principal Consultant

Mark is the VP of Nonprofit and Senior Principal Consultant for Magenta Ocean. Mark’s deep understanding of nonprofits, ability to disaggregate problems, and provide and effectively communicate constructive solutions make him a true asset for our clients.

 Mark’s background includes CEO of The Boy Scouts of America (BSA), Connecticut Yankee Council. His role with one of the larger BSA councils allows Mark to use the full measure of his nonprofit management expertise in addressing existing and future opportunities within the region.  Under Mark’s leadership the CYC achieved growth in membership and new scouting units all three years of his tenure.  Prior to becoming chief executive officer of BSA – CYC, Mark was the CEO of the Glendale, CA based Verdugo Hills Council. In 2016, Mark led the Verdugo Hills Council to a 26% year-over-year fundraising increase – the best performance in the western region of the Boy Scouts of America. Additionally, Mark’s enthusiastic leadership and focused management style was instrumental to Verdugo Hills Council’s four consecutive years of membership growth, a key BSA metric. Preceding his assignment with the Verdugo Hills Council, Mark was the CFO of the Lincoln Heritage Council in Louisville, KY, where his well-crafted strategy and disciplined execution allowed the council to increase annual fundraising from $1MM to $1.8MM resulting in strong surplus growth. Mark’s exceptional non-profit background also consists of senior management, marketing and fundraising assignments with high-visibility organizations, including the Salvation Army, Kettering Medical Center Foundation, Norton Healthcare Foundation, Kentucky Association of Manufacturers, and the Dayton Art Institute.

In addition to his professional responsibilities, Mark enjoys spending time with his wife, Joanne and their family, playing golf with friends – and a nice glass of wine with a good cigar. An Ohio native and alumnus of the University of Dayton, he is an avid fan of the Flyers basketball program.

Mark holds a B.A. in Communications from the University of Dayton.
